Security software corporation Check Point held its annual summit in Kenya early this week. This is Kenya’s first time to hold the summit.
The software company develops cybersecurity technologies.
The Check Point Experience (CPX) fair was held in Nairobi and it brought together seasoned cybersecurity experts who shared on securing enterprise systems and mobile devices from attacks that target networks, cloud services, and endpoints.
Kenya is one of the most connected countries in Africa with over 75% broadband connectivity. This means it is vulnerable to the ever-increasing cases of information security threats. There is, thus, an urgent need to develop strategies to respond to cyber security threats in African and beyond.
The summit is quite timely and brings awareness closer home, has the potential to help build high-level skills and knowledge, and encourage innovation for enhanced cyber security in Kenya and across Africa.
Currently, the company has a presence in over 88 countries across the globe and has worked with over 6000 partners. Check Point holds several firewall-related patents, according to Kendi Nderitu, the group’s Country Manager in Kenya.
Check Point currently operates in several African countries including Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Morocco, and Ethiopia. Expansion plans are underways as the software firm looks to take operations to other regions across Africa.
The firm set up a station in Kenya in 2012, which also serves as the headquarter for its trade in Eastern and North Africa.
That’s not all:
Check Point works with about 25 local operators and government-related platforms. It also serves over 90 per cent of the banks in the nation and some telcos. It has established a presence in Kenya thanks to the notable adoption of internet usage and technologies.
One of the company’s philosophy is that “It is better to prevent an attack.” However, the firm intervenes if an institution is already vulnerable.
About the Summit
CPX is among the biggest cyber security summit in the world. It brings together cyber security experts, keynotes and conference sessions deliver the analysis, insights, and training organization needs to prevent today’s 5th generation mega-attacks that target various networks, clouds, mobile devices, and endpoints.
In addition to gaining insight into ground-breaking cyber intelligence, CPX 360 presents the newest cyber security technology from Check Point and other firms in the technology ecosystem.
There’s more:
Attendants also learn why businesses require a new generation of cyber security. Of course, the answer to this is in order to remain operationally secure, but when it is broken down, it is easier to digest.
